How expiry days work
- NSE futures & options expire on a Tuesday; the monthly contracts on the last Tuesday of the month.
- BSE futures & options expire on a Thursday; the monthly contracts on the last Thursday.
- If the expiry day is a trading holiday, the contracts expire on the previous trading day.
- Weekly options exist only for Nifty 50 (NSE) and Sensex (BSE). Every other index, and every stock, expires monthly.
- From 7 December 2026, expiring index contracts stop trading at 3:30 pm on expiry day — see market timings.

The next Nifty 50 expiry is on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. Nifty has weekly expiries on Tuesdays, and its monthly contract expires on the last Tuesday of the month — next on Monday, 23 November 2026 (brought forward from Tuesday, 24 November 2026, a market holiday).
Bank Nifty has monthly expiries only. The next one is on Monday, 23 November 2026 (brought forward from Tuesday, 24 November 2026, a market holiday).
No. Each exchange may offer weekly options on just one index: Nifty 50 on NSE and Sensex on BSE. Bank Nifty, Fin Nifty, Midcap Nifty and Nifty Next 50 expire monthly, on the last Tuesday of the month.
Sensex options expire weekly on Thursdays. The next expiry is on Thursday, 29 October 2026, and the next monthly expiry is on Thursday, 29 October 2026.
The contracts expire on the previous trading day instead. For example, the expiry due on Tuesday, 10 November 2026 moves to Monday, 9 November 2026.
All NSE stock futures & options expire monthly, on the same day as the monthly index contracts — the last Tuesday of the month. The next stock F&O expiry is on Monday, 23 November 2026.
