// SETUP

Setting up SMC Global Securities Ltd.

Step 1 — Sign up for an ACE API developer account

SMC's ACE API is free — SMC describes them as free-of-cost APIs, so there is no subscription to buy. You only need an active SMC Global trading account.
  1. Go to the ACE API portal and sign up for a developer account.
  2. Register your Redirect URL — set it to https://smctradeonline.com/. SMC sends you back to this address after login, so it has to be registered before you connect.
  3. SMC issues you a key pair — copy both:
    • API Key — identifies your app
    • Secret Key — keep it private; never share it
  4. If API access isn't enabled on your account, contact SMC support with your client code and they will set it up.

Step 2 — Enable TOTP on your SMC account

The ACE login asks for a TOTP code once two-factor authentication is switched on. MyAlgoMate signs in for you, so it needs the TOTP secret key rather than a code you read off your phone.
  1. Open SMC's Enable TOTP page and switch on two-factor authentication for your account.
  2. When the QR code appears, save the secret key it contains — most authenticator apps show a “can't scan the code?” or manual-entry option that reveals it. This secret key is the TOTP key MyAlgoMate needs.
  3. Scan the QR code into your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.) so you can still sign in to SMC yourself.

Step 3 — Register your static IP

Under the SEBI retail algo-trading rules in force since 1 April 2026, API order placement must originate from a registered static IP. Register your static IP with SMC for API trading.

  1. Which IP to use: if you run MyAlgoMate on your own machine, use your ISP's static IP; if you run it on a cloud machine, use that cloud server's static IP.

No static IP or cloud machine yet? Our Cloud Server for Algo Trading is a cloud machine specialised for algo trading, and it comes with its own static IP you can register.

Step 4 — Enter the details in MyAlgoMate

  1. Open the broker login form in MyAlgoMate and enter your API Key, Secret Key, Client ID, Password and TOTP key, then save.

What you need to collect

To connect SMC Global, the broker login form in MyAlgoMate needs five details:

  • API Key — issued with your ACE API developer account
  • Secret Key — issued alongside it; keep it private
  • Client ID — your SMC client id, the one you sign in with
  • Password — your SMC account password
  • TOTP key — the secret key you saved when enabling TOTP

Two more things are set on SMC's side rather than entered here: the Redirect URL registered against your app, and your registered static IP.

Register the Redirect URL before you connect

SMC's own documentation is explicit about this: you have to register a redirect URL where you will be sent after the login. After you sign in, SMC redirects you back to that address carrying a request token, and that token is what completes the connection. If no Redirect URL is registered, or the registered one doesn't match, the login never comes back and the connection fails. Register https://smctradeonline.com/ against your app and leave it unchanged.

The ACE API is free

SMC does not charge for the ACE API — they describe them as free-of-cost APIs, so there is no subscription to buy and nothing to renew. You only need an active SMC Global trading account. (SMC's own brokerage for the trades you place is separate and depends on your plan.)

Please check with SMC Global for latest terms.

Why TOTP is required

Once two-factor authentication is switched on, the ACE login asks for a TOTP code. Because MyAlgoMate signs in to your SMC account for you, it cannot read a code off your phone — so you enable TOTP once and give MyAlgoMate the secret key behind it. Keep the authenticator app on your phone as well, so you can still sign in to SMC yourself.

If API access isn't enabled yet

The API Key and Secret Key are issued against your ACE API developer account. If you have signed up but no keys appear, or the portal won't let you register an app, contact SMC support with your client code and ask them to enable API access — that is usually all it takes.

Static IP — required for API trading

Important — static-IP changes are limited: you can update your registered static IP only once in 7 days (once per week). To change it sooner, you must ask your broker to update it for you.

Under the SEBI retail algo-trading rules in force since 1 April 2026, API order placement must originate from a registered static IP, so you need to register one with SMC. Use your ISP's static IP if you run MyAlgoMate on your own machine, or your cloud machine's static IP if you run it on a server.

If you don't have a static IP, our Cloud Server for Algo Trading is a cloud machine built for algo trading and includes a static IP of your own that you can register.

Keep your credentials private

Your Secret Key, password and TOTP key are the keys to your own trading account — never share them with anyone. MyAlgoMate provides the automation technology; you set the rules and stay in control of your own trades.

// FAQ

SMC Global Securities Ltd. — questions

Do I need to pay for the SMC ACE API?

No. SMC describes the ACE APIs as free-of-cost, so there is no subscription for API access. You only need an active SMC Global trading account. SMC's own brokerage for the trades you place is separate and depends on your plan.

What SMC Global details does MyAlgoMate need?

Five: your API Key and Secret Key from your ACE API developer account, your Client ID, your account Password, and your TOTP key. You enter all five in the broker login form in MyAlgoMate. Separately, you register a Redirect URL against your app and a static IP on SMC's side.

What Redirect URL should I register for SMC ACE?

Register https://smctradeonline.com/ against your app, and leave it unchanged. SMC's documentation requires a redirect URL — it is where you are sent after login, carrying the request token that completes the connection.

Why does my SMC connection never complete?

Nearly always the Redirect URL. After you sign in, SMC sends you back to the redirect URL registered against your app, and that return trip carries the request token that completes the connection. If none is registered, or the registered one doesn't match, the login never comes back. Check that https://smctradeonline.com/ is registered, and that your API Key and Secret Key were copied without extra spaces.

I signed up but have no API Key — what now?

Contact SMC support with your client code and ask them to enable API access on your account. The API Key and Secret Key are issued against your ACE API developer account, and if access hasn't been switched on, no keys will appear.

Do I need a static IP for SMC ACE API trading?

Yes — under the SEBI retail algo-trading rules in force since 1 April 2026, API order placement must come from a registered static IP, so register one with SMC. Use your ISP's static IP if you run MyAlgoMate on your own machine, or your cloud machine's static IP if you run it on a server. If you don't have one, our Cloud Server for Algo Trading includes a static IP.
