Connecting TIQS - Butterfly Broking Private Limited

Setting up TIQS - Butterfly Broking Private Limited
Step 1 — Create your app on the TIQS developer portal
- Go to the TIQS developer portal and sign in with your TIQS account.
- Create an app and fill in:
- App name — e.g. MyAlgoMate
- Redirect URL — set it to https://app.tiqs.in/
- Copy your App ID and App Secret. Keep the App Secret private.
⚠️ The Redirect URL has to be registered on the developer portal before you connect. TIQS sends you back to it after login, so if it is missing or doesn't match, the connection never completes.
Step 2 — Enable TOTP on your TIQS account
TIQS asks for your user ID, password and a TOTP code at login. MyAlgoMate signs in for you, so it needs the TOTP secret key rather than a code you read off your phone.
- In your TIQS account settings, enable TOTP / two-factor authentication.
- When the QR code appears, save the secret key it contains — most authenticator apps show a “can't scan the code?” or manual-entry option that reveals it. This secret key is the TOTP key MyAlgoMate needs.
- Scan the QR code into your authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.) so you can still sign in to TIQS yourself.
Step 3 — Register your static IP
Under the SEBI retail algo-trading rules in force since 1 April 2026, API order placement must originate from a registered static IP. Register your static IP with TIQS for API trading.
- Which IP to use: if you run MyAlgoMate on your own machine, use your ISP's static IP; if you run it on a cloud machine, use that cloud server's static IP.

Step 4 — Enter the details in MyAlgoMate
- Open the broker login form in MyAlgoMate and enter your App ID, App Secret, User ID, Password and TOTP key, then save.
What you need to collect
To connect TIQS, the broker login form in MyAlgoMate needs five details:
- App ID — from the app you create on the TIQS developer portal
- App Secret — issued with it; keep it private
- User ID — your TIQS user id, the one you sign in with
- Password — your TIQS account password
- TOTP key — the secret key you saved when enabling TOTP
Two more things are set on TIQS' side rather than entered here: the Redirect URL registered against your app, and your registered static IP.
Register the Redirect URL before you connect
This is the step most likely to trip you up at TIQS. After you sign in, TIQS redirects you back to the Redirect URL registered against your app, and that is how the connection is completed. If no Redirect URL is registered on the developer portal, or the registered one doesn't match, the login simply never comes back and the connection fails. Register https://app.tiqs.in/ against your app and leave it unchanged.
App ID and User ID are not the same thing
Two of the five fields sound alike. Your App ID identifies the app you created on the developer portal, while your User ID is your own TIQS login. MyAlgoMate needs both, in their own fields — putting one in the other's box is an easy mistake to make.
Why TOTP is required
TIQS asks for your user ID, password and a TOTP code when you log in. Because MyAlgoMate signs in to your TIQS account for you, it cannot read a code off your phone — so you enable TOTP once and give MyAlgoMate the secret key behind it. Keep the authenticator app on your phone as well, so you can still sign in to TIQS yourself.
Static IP — required for API trading

Why does my TIQS connection never complete?
Nearly always the Redirect URL. After you sign in, TIQS sends you back to the Redirect URL registered against your app, and that return trip is what completes the connection. If none is registered on the developer portal, or the registered one doesn't match, the login never comes back. Check that https://app.tiqs.in/ is registered against your app, and that your App ID and App Secret were copied without extra spaces.
What is the difference between my App ID and my User ID?
Your App ID identifies the app you created on the TIQS developer portal. Your User ID is your own TIQS login, the one you sign in with. They are different values and go in different fields in MyAlgoMate.
