Connecting Motilal - Open API
MyAlgoMate connects to Motilal Oswal through their official MO API (Open API). You register an app on the MO API developer portal, copy your API Key, API Secret Key and TOTP secret key, whitelist a static IP as Motilal Oswal requires, and then enter your API Key, API Secret Key, Client ID, Password and TOTP key into the broker login form in MyAlgoMate.

Setting up Motilal - Open API
Step 1 — Register your app on the MO API portal
The MO API is free — Motilal Oswal lets you use the RESTful APIs at no cost, with no hidden charges and nothing to subscribe to. You only need an active Motilal Oswal trading account.
- Go to invest.motilaloswal.com/moAPI and log in with your Motilal Oswal credentials, accepting the API terms if you are prompted.
- Choose Create an API and fill in:
- App Name — e.g. MyAlgoMate
- Redirect URL — set it to https://invest.motilaloswal.com/
- Your API Key is issued when the app is registered. Copy it, along with your API Secret Key, from the API portal.
Step 2 — Copy your TOTP secret key
- Still on the MO API portal, open your profile dashboard.
- Copy the TOTP secret key — a 32-character value shown on the dashboard. This is the TOTP key MyAlgoMate needs.
- You can also add that key to an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.) if you want 6-digit codes for your own logins.
Step 3 — Register your static IP (mandatory)
Motilal Oswal requires a registered static IP for placing orders through the MO API — under the SEBI retail algo framework in force since 1 April 2026, a registered static IP is mandatory for all clients using the API for order placement.
- In the MO API developer portal, register your static IPs. You get exactly two slots per application: a Primary IP (mandatory — all API orders are placed from it) and a Secondary IP (optional, as a backup).
- Which IP to use: if you run MyAlgoMate on your own machine, use your ISP's static IP; if you run it on a cloud machine, use that cloud server's static IP.
- If your IP changes later, you can update the registered static IP from the MO API developer portal.

Step 4 — Enter the details in MyAlgoMate
- Open the broker login form in MyAlgoMate and enter your API Key, API Secret Key, Client ID, Password and TOTP key, then save.
What you need to collect
To connect Motilal Oswal, the broker login form in MyAlgoMate needs five details:
- API Key — issued when you register your app on the MO API portal
- API Secret Key — shown alongside it on the portal
- Client ID — your Motilal Oswal client id; enter it in capital letters
- Password — your Motilal Oswal account password
- TOTP key — the 32-character TOTP secret key from your profile dashboard on the API portal
One more thing is set on Motilal Oswal's side rather than entered here: you must register a static IP against your application.
The MO API is free
Motilal Oswal does not charge for the MO API — the RESTful APIs are free to use with no hidden cost, so there is no subscription to buy and nothing to renew. You only need an active Motilal Oswal trading account. (Motilal Oswal's own brokerage charges for your trades are separate and unchanged.)
Static IP — required by Motilal Oswal
Under the SEBI retail algo framework in force since 1 April 2026, a registered static IP is mandatory for all clients using the MO API for order placement. You get exactly two slots per application: a Primary IP, which is mandatory and is the IP all API orders are placed from, and an optional Secondary IP that acts as a backup. Use your ISP's static IP if you run MyAlgoMate locally, or your cloud machine's static IP if you run it on a server. You can update a registered IP later from the MO API developer portal.
