No-code vs coding: how algo automation works
Harsh Kothari · 28 July 2026
One of the biggest myths about automated trading is that you need to be a programmer. You don't. Here's the difference between no-code automation and custom-built automation — and how to decide which suits you.
No-code tools: configure and go
No-code tools let you set up a strategy through a simple interface — choose your instrument, conditions, order types and risk controls, and deploy. There's no programming involved, and you can usually be live in minutes. If your approach fits a ready-made tool, this is the fastest route.
Custom automation: your exact logic, built for you
If your strategy is unique — specific indicators, custom entry and exit rules, or particular risk logic — custom automation builds it for you. You describe how you trade; the team turns it into a working algo. You still write no code, and your logic stays private.
MetaTrader (MT4/MT5) Expert Advisors
If you trade on MetaTrader 4 or 5, your rules can be built into an Expert Advisor (EA) that runs automatically inside the platform, around the clock.
Which should you choose?
Start by asking whether an existing tool already matches how you trade. If it does, a no-code tool is quickest. If your edge is in the details, a custom build captures them exactly. Not sure? Our algo trading software overview walks through the options.
