# Copy trading with Upstox

Place an order once and have it copied into every account you link — between Upstox accounts, or between Upstox and any of 152 other Indian brokers. Upstox can be the master you trade in, or a child that receives the copies, each child sized by its own multiplier.

## Does MyAlgoMate's copy trading work with Upstox?

Yes. MyAlgoMate's Copy Trading Software connects to Upstox through Upstox Developer API. A Upstox account can be the master — the account you trade in — or a child that receives a copy of every order, and it can copy to or from 152 other Indian brokers. The Upstox Developer API is free. The software runs on your own Windows PC or cloud server, so your Upstox logins stay on your machine. MyAlgoMate provides technology only, not investment advice.

// HOW IT WORKS

## Upstox as the master, Upstox as a child

Copy trading has two roles. The master is the account you trade in; every child gets a copy of each order.

Master

### Trade in Upstox, copy everywhere

You place orders in your Upstox account exactly as you do today. The software watches that account and places the same order in each child account — at Upstox or at any other supported broker.

Upstox API as master: The Upstox Developer API is free — Upstox charges no API fee.

Child

### Copy into Upstox from anywhere

Your master can be at another broker and this Upstox account follows it, trading the master's quantity times its own multiplier. Nothing is installed for a child account.

Upstox API as child: The Upstox Developer API is free for a child account too.

### Worth knowing about Upstox

- Upstox links a static IP to one customer only. Every Upstox account in your setup needs its own static IP, so give each one its own proxy in the software.
- The API Key and the Client ID are separate fields. The API Key belongs to your app; the Client ID is your Upstox login.
- A Redirect URL that doesn't match exactly is the usual cause of an “Invalid Credentials” error.

// BEFORE YOU START

## What you need

- A Windows PC, or a Windows cloud machine you rent, that stays on and connected during market hours.
- A MyAlgoMate Copy Trading subscription covering your master and the child accounts you want copying.
- Upstox API access for each Upstox account. The Upstox Developer API is free — Upstox charges no API fee. The Upstox Developer API is free for a child account too.
- A static IP registered with Upstox for each Upstox account — and, for accounts at other brokers, one registered with their broker. No static IP yet? Our [Cloud Server for Algo Trading](https://myalgomate.com/products/cloud-server-for-algo-trading) comes with one, and the free [static IP checker](https://myalgomate.com/tools/static-ip-checker) shows the IP you connect from.
- TOTP turned on for each Upstox account, with its secret key saved.

// STEP BY STEP

## Set up copy trading with Upstox

Six steps, from API keys to the first copied order. No coding at any point.

1. Step 1 ### Get your Upstox API details 1. Create an app at account.upstox.com/developer/apps with the Redirect URL https://www.upstox.com, then copy the API Key and API Secret.
2. Enable TOTP (Account → Profile → My Account → Time-based OTP) and save the secret key.
3. Register your static IP. Do this for every Upstox account you will use, master and children alike. [The full Upstox setup, field by field →](https://myalgomate.com/brokers/upstox)
2. Step 2 ### Install the software and sign in Install MyAlgoMate's Copy Trading Software on a Windows PC or a Windows cloud machine that stays on during market hours, and sign in with your MyAlgoMate account. Turn on *Set time automatically* in Windows first: Upstox logins use a TOTP code worked out from the clock, and a clock that is out by a minute makes them fail. [Read this step in the user guide →](https://myalgomate.com/guide/copy-trading-software#install-first-run)
3. Step 3 ### Add Upstox as your master or as a child On the ACCOUNTS screen press **Add Master** (the account you trade in) or **Add Child** (an account that receives copies). Choose Upstox, type an A/C Name you will recognise and enter API Key, API Secret, Client ID, PIN and TOTP key. If this account connects through its own static IP (a proxy), fill in the account's proxy block too. [Read this step in the user guide →](https://myalgomate.com/guide/copy-trading-software#add-child-account)
4. Step 4 ### Run the broker IP check The check opens by itself when you save the account. It confirms Upstox accepts orders from this account's IP before the market opens, so you never find out from a rejected order. You can re-run it any time from the account's ⋯ menu. [Read this step in the user guide →](https://myalgomate.com/guide/copy-trading-software#broker-ip-check)
5. Step 5 ### Set each child's multiplier and segments Every child account trades the master's quantity times its own multiplier — whole numbers, fractions or decimals, and a different figure per segment if you want. Untick any segment you don't want copied into that account. [Read this step in the user guide →](https://myalgomate.com/guide/copy-trading-software#per-child-multipliers)
6. Step 6 ### Log in all accounts and start copying Press **Login All**: the master logs in first, then the children. Press **START COPY** and trade as you always do — in Upstox's own app or terminal, or from your own algo. Each order is copied into every child account the moment it appears. [Read this step in the user guide →](https://myalgomate.com/guide/copy-trading-software#start-copy)

// ANY BROKER

## Copy trading with Upstox — questions

Can I do copy trading with Upstox?

Yes. MyAlgoMate's Copy Trading Software connects to Upstox through Upstox Developer API. A Upstox account can be the master — the account you trade in — or a child that receives a copy of every order, and it can copy to or from accounts at any of the other 152 supported brokers.

Do I need a paid Upstox API for copy trading?

The Upstox Developer API is free — Upstox charges no API fee. The Upstox Developer API is free for a child account too.

Does every Upstox account need a static IP?

Yes. Every account that places orders through a broker API — the master and each child — needs a static IP registered with its broker, and orders from an unregistered IP are rejected. At Upstox: One Primary static IP (plus an optional Secondary) registered with Upstox. Changing it signs out your API session. The software lets you give each account its own proxy, so accounts can connect from different static IPs.

Do I have to log in to Upstox every day?

No. You enter each Upstox account's details once, and the software logs it in for you using the TOTP key. Nobody needs to log in to Upstox separately.

Can I copy trades from Upstox to another broker?

Yes. The master and every child can be at different brokers. Place an order in your Upstox master and it is copied into child accounts at Zerodha, Angel One, Dhan or any other supported broker — or make Upstox the child of a master held elsewhere.

Can one Upstox account copy into several other Upstox accounts?

Yes. Add one Upstox account as the master and the others as children. Each child is sized by its own multiplier, and each one needs its own Upstox API access and its own registered static IP.

What Upstox details does the software need?

API Key, API Secret, Client ID, PIN and TOTP key, plus the account's Client ID. You enter them once, and they are stored on your own machine — never on MyAlgoMate's servers.

Can I keep trading in Upstox's own app while copying?

Yes. The software watches your master account's order book, so an order placed in Upstox's app, its website or your own algo is copied the same way. If your own algo also signs in with the same Upstox API key, ask us on WhatsApp before you start — brokers set their own rules on one API key being used by two programs at once.

How fast are orders copied into Upstox?

The software sends the child orders as soon as the master's order appears. What you actually see also depends on how quickly each broker's API replies and on your internet connection; a cloud machine with a good connection is quicker than a home PC.

How much does copy trading with Upstox cost?

MyAlgoMate's Copy Trading Software costs from ₹400 a month per account (+ GST), or ₹500 month to month. Every account counts, the master included, and a live setup needs at least one master and one child. Upstox's own API is separate. The Upstox Developer API is free — Upstox charges no API fee. The Upstox Developer API is free for a child account too. Upstox's brokerage on your trades is separate too.
